Poplars and crescent moons
Jan. 14th, 2011 06:25 pmI made a point to doodle at work, even if I couldn't make myself finish it ._.

I suppose I'll be crossposting this over to
sand_dance at some point, maybe as a part of a sketch dump...
So, the new Maaya album came out on the 12th.
dillpops has a couple of translations up at
maayasakamoto_feed: "Tegami" and "Moonlight (or music for you to sleep to)". Check them out! I haven't listened to the whole album yet, but "Utsukushii Hito" is track 4! ♥
ETA. Ok, now I have listened to the whole album. "eternal return" should totally be an OP or ED for the return of Gintama this April! (If that does happen, I called it! xDD) And what with You Can't Catch Me peaking at #1 on Oricon, how long do you suppose it'll be before someone besides me points out that "Kimi no Sei" and Ikimonogakari's "Planetarium" is the same song? /edit
PS. Tonight... TONIGHT I PLAY FIRE EMBLEM!!!!!!!! a-after this episode of Gintama (I'm on ep 109) x'D

This is a Japanese -> Chinese -> English translation; it's based on this beautiful but inaccurate Chinese fan translation. I welcome all corrections because I know I made plenty of mistakes in interpretation even though I didn't dare take as much artistic license. ^^'

1 "Beautiful People". I'm reading this funny, I know. There's nothing to indicate plural here. It's a bad habit. The same reason I read 宇宙 as "universe" and not "heaven", I suppose...
2 Měilì-de rén: Beautiful person/people
3 Qīn'ài-de rén: Beloved
Oh crap... ;___; Maaya....... Now I'm crying... *deep breath*
(below is the original post)
( The sea can break one's heart, ne? * )
Anyway, happy (slightly early) Duanwu Festival!

亲爱的人 時がくれば 亲爱的人 光のなか 孤独はぬくもりに 解けてゆく この声が聞こえるなら 渡り鳥よ導いて 霧の夜も嵐も 愛だけは奪えない 鳥が海を渡るように 人は人を知るために 命が覚えている 遥かなるあの場所へ あなたに触れてほしい 憧れよ 抱き寄せて 届いて 私の 生まれた国の言葉で 美丽的人 愛している 美丽的人 美丽的人 愛している 美丽的人 | Utsukushii Hito1 If you can hear my voice, O birds of passage, please guide me To my memory of a life on that far-off shore It's as though the sound of the sea has captured my heart Sing with your mother tongue Měilì-de rén2, if I could meet you Měilì-de rén, in our eyes the flame of shared hopes catches alight Flowers of a land yet unseen, echoing with the sound of bells I long to sail west with the wind Let's clasp hands and match our heartbeats to the waves Tell me, what is it that separates us? Qīn'ài-de rén3, if that time comes Qīn'ài-de rén, in the light Warmth will melt this loneliness away If you can hear my voice, O birds of passage, please guide me Even in nights of fog or storm, only love can't be wrested away People who seek to know one another cross the sea like birds To the memory of a life on that far-off shore I want to feel you, I long to be held by you I want to tell you in my mother tongue Měilì-de rén, I love you, Měilì-de rén Měilì-de rén, I love you, Měilì-de rén |
